Message from Conference Chairperson
Dear colleagues,
As the Tokyo Conference chairperson, and (then) chairperson of the CCP12 group, I am much honored to participate in the organization of the Central Counterparty Global Conference - CCPs and the Evolution of Global Trading: Interconnecting Exchanges, Listings and Liquidity Pools - to be held in Tokyo on April 16th, 17th, and 18th, 2008, at the Palace Hotel.
The securities industry has been changing dramatically in the recent years and the general expectation is that this trend will intensify and not fade. The Central Counterparties (CCPs) are key institutions for assuring the safety and agility of the settlement of securities transactions as well as for managing the risks involved in this process, independently from how and where trades were executed. As technologies in the trading side evolve rapidly and securities trading become borderless, the CCPs role has increased in its importance for further fostering the growth of markets.
In order to prepare for an even more diversified, consolidated and global market, the CCPs are in an urgent need to discuss the main issues arising from this changing environment.
The purpose of the Central Counterparty Global Conference is to bring together for an open and deep dialogue all the CCPs in the world, their main stakeholders and the regulators.
The agenda for the Central Counterparty Global Conference was developed by the CCP12 Steering Committee composed by senior executives of cash and derivatives CCPs representing a variety of marketplaces - Australian Stock Exchange (ASX), Brazilian Clearing and Depository Corporation (CBLC), Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME), Depository Trust and Clearing Corporation (DTCC), Eurex Zürich AG, LCH.Clearnet Group Limited, National Securities Clearing Corporation Limited of India (NSCC), Tokyo Stock Exchange (TSE) and Japan Securities Clearing Corporation (JSCC).
My expectation is that the Central Counterparty Global Conference - CCPs and the Evolution of Global Trading: Interconnecting Exchanges, Listings and Liquidity Pools - will entail the most interesting and productive discussions bringing us all to a higher level of collaboration.
I believe that the conference will have significant implications not only to the CCPs but to our stakeholders which are not local institutions anymore but are rather international markets players and infra-structure organizations widely spread across the globe.
I am looking forward to seeing you in Tokyo.
Amarílis Sardenberg
CCP12 - (then) Chairperson

Welcome message
Dear Colleagues around the world:
On behalf of Japan Securities Clearing Corporation, a venue host, I would like to extend a warm invitation to all the delegates to the Central Counterparty Global Conference to be held here in Tokyo from April 16th to 18th, 2008.
In recent years, the global financial markets have been closely interconnected in terms of various aspects including the accessibility and the products regulations. In keeping with this trend, the importance of the clearing and settlement functions is rapidly increasing. From this viewpoint, now is the perfect time to exchange ideas on how CCPs can contribute to the development of global markets. I strongly believe that this conference will have a significant meaning for the CCP industry as a forum to discuss the relevant issues with competent colleagues from all over the world.
During the preparation period for the conference, the Steering Committee headed by the Chairperson Ms. Amarilis Sardenberg has intensively worked to compile the thoughtful agenda and to organize sessions by distinguished speakers. I would like to take this opportunity to thank Ms. Sardenberg and all members of the Steering Committee.
With its mild weather and a variety of flowers, spring is one of the best seasons to visit Japan. Also, a splendid garden is located just in front of the Palace Hotel. So I hope you will enjoy a pleasant walk there.
I am looking forward to seeing you all in Tokyo.
Yoshimasa Yamashita
President and CEO
Japan Securities Clearing Corporation
